Working as a Disney Musician

“Let it Go!” The Pervasive Patterns in Movie Music, Pop, and Rock

  • Formerly known as the “University of Arizona High School Honor Band”
  • Due to COVID-19, we have changed the festival to a Saturday afternoon event open to any high school student, anywhere, for free!
  • Directors of students participating may also attend for no charge!

Event Description

After a brief opening session, all attendees will choose two “elective” sessions of their choice. These 30-minute, bite-sized sessions by the UA Faculty will bring musical topics and ideas unlike any other high school event!

Elective sessions include topics like: breaking down the patterns in pop music and movie music, experiences as a Disney performer, the resurgence of Disco, and many more!

Next, students will move into breakout rooms to attend a 50-minute masterclass session presented by the Fred Fox School of Music applied faculty. This session will include tips and instructions about playing your instrument, presented by outstanding professional musicians on our faculty!

While students are in masterclasses, directors will join Dr. Chad Nicholson, UA Director of Bands, for a special session with the legendary Ray E. Cramer. Mr. Cramer, Emeritus Director of Bands at Indiana University, has conducted around the world, including a 30-year tenure at the Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo.
